GB Leighton offers virtual show to support MCPF & Wear the Badge

Well know singer, songwriter GB Leighton hosted a virtual fundraiser for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation Thursday evening. His kitchen sessions, which are Facebook Live performances from his home, have become very popular during this time of social distancing as the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is part of a spring fundraising drive to benefit MCPF and its Wear the Badge programs including Wear the Badge Scholarships.

"We were really looking forward to seeing GB Leighton in person at our ETI conference in April. He is incredibly generous to play a show to benefit our foundation," says MCPF president and Bloomington chief of police Jeff Potts. "Like a lot of small nonprofits, MCPF is staring down an uncertain future but the support for our fundraising drive will make a big difference."

The concert had nearly 4500 views on Facebook. You can view it through this link. By the end of the live video, the fundraising total was approaching $8000, but donations to support MCPF and the programs of Wear the Badge are still being accepted! Before the fundraising event, the MCPF announced the Wear the Badge scholarship recipients and in recent years has awarded more than $35,000 in scholarship and training grants for small police agencies. "There are many needs right now and, I know from reviewing scholarship applications, the need is only going to grow. Our current group of recipients is especially thankful and relieved by your support," Chiefs Potts said.
